Bowerman Construction completed construction on City Kitty Veterinary Care for Cats at 400 Hope Street in Providence. Bowerman Construction was hired as the General Contractor/ Construction Manager. Phase 1 of the project began with the demolition of the existing Clarke’s Flower Shop followed by associated site and foundation work as final permitting and design were completed. Phase 2 included the construction of a two story 8,100 sf wood frame building and all interior tenant improvements. 

The improvements consisted of creating a 2,500 sf Veterinary Clinic with waiting areas, surgical suites, x-ray room, exam rooms and holding areas for cats. In addition a 1,500 sf commercial tenant space was created on the first floor as well as three residential rental units in 4,100 sf on the second floor, along with landscaping, parking and site work. 

In October of 2018, Bowerman Associates, Inc. (now Bowerman Construction) received Rhode Island Monthly’s 2018 Design Award for Commercial Renovation/New Construction. “Our judges gave many thumbs up to the exterior, noting the sensitivity paid to the surrounding area. Inside, they heralded the playful feel, a style befitting the business’s four-legged clientele,” writes Rhode Island Monthly author, Courtney Coelho.
